How dynasty trade values work
A dynasty value prices a player's whole career, not just the next few weeks. That is the big difference from redraft. A 23-year-old receiver who is merely good today can be worth more than an aging running back who is great today, because the receiver should score for six more seasons.
Nobody can project six seasons of points, so we use the next best thing: what dynasty managers actually pay. Sleeper publishes the average draft position (ADP) of every player in its dynasty startup drafts. Thousands of real drafts say how the market ranks a 22-year-old against a 29-year-old. We turn that ranking into a value with a smooth curve: the first pick is worth 10,000 and the value halves every 48 picks, four rounds of a 12-team draft.
Draft position alone would ignore what happens during the season. So once the season starts, a quarter of every dynasty value comes from the player's rest-of-season value in redraft. A rookie who breaks out in October rises; a starter who tears a knee ligament falls. Then the best player is set back to 10,000.
How rookie picks are valued
A rookie pick is worth what it would buy. The best guide to what next year's picks will buy is what this year's picks bought. So we rank the current rookie class by dynasty value and give each pick slot the value of the rookie at that spot. Pick 1.01 is worth the top rookie. Pick 1.06 is worth the sixth rookie, and so on.
- Early, mid and late picks average slots 1 to 4, 5 to 8 and 9 to 12 of each round.
- A plain "1st" averages the whole round, for when you do not know where a pick will land yet.
- Picks two drafts away are worth 90 percent of next year's pick in the same round. They take longer to pay off and nobody knows the class yet.
To add a pick, type "1st", "early 2nd" or the year into either side.

Contender or rebuilder: pick your side first
The same trade can be smart for one team and silly for another. Before you use the calculator, decide which team you are this season.
- Contenders should trade future value for points now. Picks and young backups do not win this year's title. A slight loss in value for a starter who fills a hole is often a good deal.
- Rebuilders should do the opposite. Sell running backs over 26 before they lose value, and collect young receivers, quarterbacks and picks that peak in two or three years.
- Teams in the middle lose the most. If you are the fifth-best team, pick a direction and trade toward it.
Running backs age the fastest, so dynasty values drop sharply in their mid-20s. Receivers and quarterbacks hold value longer. Value charts already price this in, which is why an older running back can sit well below a younger, less productive receiver.

Superflex dynasty leagues
In superflex, quarterbacks are the most valuable assets in dynasty by a wide margin, because every team wants two and young starters hold value for a decade. Set quarterbacks to superflex above, or open the superflex trade calculator, and the values switch to Sleeper's superflex dynasty drafts.
